Needs work, huh?
Any tips on how to organise it so that my bills get paid on time, and my banking is easy??
:) this is what works for me Marissa...The day I receive a bill the details are entered into a spreadsheet with details of the type of bill, amount and due date (there's also a column to complete when the bill is paid). I keep this record so I can look back to compare past bills and work out where we need to cut back etc. I then place the bill in a bright red "Bills to be Paid" folder in order of when they're due. I also put a reminder in outlook to pop up on my screen 3 days prior to the bill been due so I can organise payment by the due date. I rarely pay bills early cause I prefer to have the money sitting in my bank account offsetting my mortgage interest as long as possible. I love this system and if you keep on top of it it's always under control. Good luck getting sorted today :)
Hmm, I have no tips because my "system" looks like yours ;)I'll be keeping an eye on this post to see if anyone else has some tips (I like Ange's idea of having a reminder pop up in Outlook) Oh, as long as my power doesn't get cut because I've forgotten to pay it! ;)
my tip is get Ben to do it !;-)
UPDATE: I've been inspired by Ange and have just purchaed a red manilla folder to keep my "To Pay" bills in - hopefully it will stop me from losing them now! For now I think I will keep it simple and set aside a time each week to pay them... will let you know how it goes!
