We got McDonalds for lunch today after we finished our grocery shopping.

I'm not sure, but I think the staff may have been new. Hadn't made a Big Mac before..

When we got home and unpacked our food, this is what the Big Mac looked like:

Bread, meat cheese.

I was surprised considering how confident McDonalds was, sticking a 100% quality sticker on it?!?

Am I the only one that still remembers the McDonalds ad from years ago?

Do you remember that ad?

Company Review: Groupon

So last week the people from Groupon asked me to check out their site and review it.

To be honest, I didn't have to think about it for long - I am more than happy to spend time looking at shopping deals online and call it work, especially when I find deals I would actually use, like:
There's even a wedding deal in the Hunter Valley for $3999 instead of $10,250 - Don't worry Husband, I won't be needing this one, but I hope my bride-to-be friends check out that deal before it ends in a few days.

Even if you miss these deals, more come up regularly so it's worth subscribing and getting the email updates - I did and I get a few emails a day now that are tailored to suit me. Happy with that :)

Groupon is powered by Westfield, which I am really impressed with because I love Westfield. I really, really love Westfield :) So I know there will be plenty of great things for me to look at!

Head over here to have a closer look at Groupon - the website is really easy to use, if you're anything like me, I think you'll really like it :)

  • This post is proudly sponsored by Groupon - I was invited to try the service and paid to publish this post if I was happy to do so. I was happy, I've signed up for the regular updates, and I bought the coffee special :)

Sophie's currently loving: Lego

It started with sharing her cousin's Lego at Nanna's house a couple of weeks ago.

Now, Lego is a firm favourite of Soph's!

She was thrilled when a package of Lego arrived on our doorstep this morning, started playing straight away and 2hrs later while I type this post - still going!

She can't wait to tell her cousin all about it and share her set with him now :)

Happy 50th Lego!

Lego has been in Australia for 50 years this year. To celebrate with them, check out

I love this story about John Peddie arriving in Australia with a briefcase full of Lego..

Do your kids play with Lego?

The Hunger Games: Book and Movie Review

I had a couple of hours to myself last weekend on my flight to Melbourne, so I took a copy of  The Hunger Games on the plane with me.

I hadn't read it before and to be honest, there was so much hype about the movie coming out, I wasn't sure if I would be over it before I even started reading.

I was wrong. I LOVED the book - so much that I bought the other 2 books in the series - Catching Fire and Mockingjay - and had read them both by the end of the weekend.

Then I went to see the movie on Monday night. Yep - that's how much I loved it.

I'm not going to explain the storyline, you've probably heard it already and it's easy enough to Google it.

I will tell you that the movie is pretty true to the book - I only noticed a couple of differences.

So yes - I loved The Hunger Games - the book and the movie. But there was one major problem..

You know when you read a book, picture the characters and then when you watch the movie everyone looks different to how you pictured them?

Well before I read the book I saw all the tv footage of the cast, so I thought I knew what the main characters looked like - but it turned out I had the actors playing Peeta and Gale mixed up. So when I saw the movie and realised Josh Hutcherson was Peeta and Liam Hemsworth was Gale (and not the other way round), it was very confusing for a few minutes!

Has that ever happened to you?

Anyway, I highly recommend both the book and the movie - but read the book first, there's a lot more detail in it and I think it would be harder to grasp the full meaning of some of what happens in the movie without knowing the background the book provides.

You can buy the book for under $12 with free shipping here at The Book Depository.

What about you? Which do you usually do first - read the book or watch the movie?

  • I bought the books and my movie ticket with my own money
  • I receive no payment for writing this post

Wibbly Pig and Angelina Ballerina: DVD Review (and saving my sanity a little!)

This Wibbly Pig DVD is on daily rotation at our house at the moment, and we are loving it.

I'm not complaining - It got us through a month of rough times at home - concussion, gastro, constipation, gastro (again!), hospital visits and teething. So I am embracing television at the moment, especially when it means I get a half hour to blog again :)

Every morning the girls get to pick one DVD each to watch and for the last few weeks, Wibbly Pig has been Sophie's choice. In fact, I think I just heard her ask her Dad for it just now!

Meanwhile, Georgia is in love with Angelina Ballerina.

I think it's because it's pink. She loves pink - how does a baby pick a favourite colour at 10 months??

I think these shows are great for under fives - they're happy themes, with lots of singing and dancing included. I find myself humming the songs as I potter around the house, and Sophie has the Wibbly Pig "Super Shadow Show" song and dance down pat - she could almost pass a Young Talent Time audition at this point, she's so cute ;)

The only problem? With daily playing, they're getting scratched quickly, so I'm looking for ways to protect or repair the DVDs if they stop working.

Any ideas?

  • We received a complimentary copy of each DVD (and a few others) to review - These are the girls' favourites of the bunch
  • My opinions (and the girls' opinions) are honest and our own
  • There was no payment for this review
